This support article on the differences between the legacy and UWP app totally overlooks this key point. I'm not aware of a way to recreate this functionality with the current tools in Win 10 and\or the UWP OneNote app.

I tried to use the new Snip and Sketch in Win 1809, but I'm not willing to go back and manually deal with 20 separate open windows of content later + if Windows Update decides it's time to reboot my PC, those unsaved snips appear to be lost. Any workflow that requires me to take my mind and eyes off that content to save a snip is unacceptable, so copy\paste is out. I sit through a lot of shared meeting content most days, and rely on this feature of OneNote 2016 multiple times a day, nearly every day. make it properly searchable via OCR, which helps when you are trying to find a scrape from the past.automatically save it by dropping it into a predetermined notebook location (no need to interrupt your workflow, open OneNote, find your spot, and paste it).snip any part of the screen (this rules out Web Clipper folks).With OneNote 2016's screen clipping tool we had a single-keystroke solution that could: I think all the recent replies that answer this question with 'use the Win10 Snipping Tool (or Ink Workspace, or whatever they are really calling it now), or the OneNote Web Clipper, or some better 3rd-party tool' are all missing this key point:
